PHOTOS AND LETTERS FROM THE TROOPS
'I am a Marine who recently arrived back from Afghanistan with task force 2/7. I received a
care package with an american flag in it which was flown in a healing field. Attached to this
email is a picture of my squad holding theflag. I am the one kneeling down next to the flag
holding it. This picture was taken on top of a mountain which was fortified by the soviets while they were fighting in Afghanistan in the 1980's. It is located in the Gullistan District Center, Farah Province, Afghanistan. Thank you for your support!'

LETTERS
“Thank you so much for the boxes and boxes of snacks, books, hygiene items, etc. that you sent to us. Every one of us appreciates the support your church has given us during this deployment. Just last week I carried quite a bit of your gifts to a more distant location and a group of Marines who have been living out of their packs for a month. They all say thank you! The good news for us is that our days in Afghanistan are coming to an end. Many thanks again for your gifts, thoughts and prayers.”

Thank you for your unwavering and selfless support of the Marines, Sailors and Soldiers of Regimental Combat Team 1. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. We have distributed your gifts throughout the regiment and all are benefiting tremendously. Your generous support provides an immeasurable boost to morale and invigorates our Marines, sailors and Soldiers as they execute their mission far from home….”

“I write to you all as a very touched and grateful Marine Officer. Your kindness and generosity was warmly received by the marines of the task force… It means so very much to be remembered during the holidays, especially while deployed in a combat zone away from friends and family. We gladly serve and sacrifice so that our fellow Americans may live a life where freedom reigns….I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to bring some holiday cheer to some very hard working Marines. You helped to make what would have been just another day in the desert, to one which will be remembered for years to come. May God Bless you all.”
Sincerely Yours,
Major Chad M. Hubbard, USMC
“Thank you for the care packages we received. It was encouraging to know we have support back home. The writing untensils, were important to us. I t was kind of you to send us sunflower seeds. They helped us take our minds off our work. Thank you for the bibles, some of us didn’t have any. The CD/s look interesting, we are eager to listen to them. Again, we thank you all for your continuous prayers and support. We will continue to fight for not only our freedom and right, but for the people of Afghanistan. as well.”
Sincerely, The Marines of CLC-151
“My unit recently received boxes from your organization. As the Postal Chief for my unit I felt an obligation to inform you that what you all are doing is not going unnoticed or unappreciated. I opened ofe of the two packages myself just to see what is was all about. I read the letter you left in the box and looked through the included items and I was touched. One of my Marines hadn’t received any mail since our arrival in Afghanistan, so I gave him the other package. His face lit up like a kid at Christmas. Both of us kept the patriotic dog tag that was included and the book are gold. Reading becomes a hobby; even to Marines that normally wouldn’t read in the States (like myself). I’m not a man of many words,as anyone who knows me will bare witness. In closing; thank you again for all that you do. The Marines are grateful for your contributions."
Very Respectfully, SSgt. KR
“Thank you for the wonderful gifts. My Marines were very happy with the good will of your church; especially during the holiday season. Although we are all far away from our loved ones, an outstanding church group like yours makes our time out here that much more worthwhile. God Bless you, the members of Calvary Chapel and all your families.”
